11 Days Kenya Big Five & Uganda Primate Safari

Overview

This 11-day Kenya and Uganda safari is a professionally curated cross-border expedition that connects Kenya’s iconic Rift Valley lakes and Maasai Mara ecosystem with Uganda’s Queen Elizabeth National Park and Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, creating one of the most diverse wildlife circuits in East Africa. The itinerary is designed to deliver a gradual and immersive transition from open savannah landscapes in Kenya to wetlands and crater lakes in Uganda, and finally into the dense tropical rainforest of Bwindi, home to the endangered mountain gorillas. The experience balances Big Five game viewing, lake and river ecosystems, and rare primate trekking, making it ideal for travelers seeking a complete East African wildlife journey with varied landscapes and well-paced travel days.

The rest of the day is reserved for rest and recovery. In the evening, a detailed safari briefing is provided covering the Kenya–Uganda route, park highlights, and travel logistics. Dinner and overnight stay in Nairobi.
After breakfast, depart Nairobi and drive through the Great Rift Valley escarpments toward Lake Nakuru National Park. Arrive in time for lunch at your lodge and proceed for an afternoon game drive across diverse habitats including lakeshores, acacia woodlands, and forested areas. Lake Nakuru is a protected ecosystem known for its scenic landscapes and strong conservation success. Dinner and overnight stay in Nakuru region.
After breakfast, enjoy a morning game drive in Lake Nakuru before departing for Lake Naivasha. Arrive in the afternoon and proceed for a relaxed boat safari on the freshwater lake. The experience offers close water-based wildlife viewing and peaceful scenery surrounded by acacia forests and volcanic landscapes. Optional nature walk in nearby sanctuary areas. Dinner and overnight stay in Naivasha.
After breakfast, depart Lake Naivasha and drive through the scenic Rift Valley floor toward Maasai Mara National Reserve. Arrive in time for lunch and proceed for an afternoon game drive across the vast savannah plains. The Mara ecosystem is characterized by wide open landscapes, seasonal river systems, and high wildlife density. Dinner and overnight stay in Maasai Mara.
After breakfast, enjoy a full-day guided safari in Maasai Mara. Game drives are conducted across different sectors depending on wildlife movement and seasonal patterns. A picnic lunch is served inside the reserve to maximize time in the field. Return to camp at sunset for dinner and overnight stay.
After breakfast, depart Maasai Mara and begin your journey toward the Kenya–Uganda border crossing (Malaba or Busia). After immigration clearance, continue into Uganda with a scenic drive through rural countryside and agricultural landscapes. Arrive at a transit town or lodge for overnight stay depending on travel pace. Dinner and overnight stay in Uganda.
After breakfast, continue toward Queen Elizabeth National Park, one of Uganda’s most diverse safari ecosystems. Arrive and proceed for an introductory game drive en-route to your lodge. After breakfast, enjoy a morning game drive across Queen Elizabeth National Park. In the afternoon, proceed for a Kazinga Channel boat cruise, one of the most rewarding water safari experiences in Africa. The channel connects Lake Edward and Lake George and attracts large concentrations of wildlife along its shores. Return to lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
